Why do I need to professionally dispose of old IT equipment?

Egton have identified three main reasons:

Legal and environmental

The disposal of IT waste is now governed by strict legislation and failure to comply with this legislation will expose your business to the possibility of harmful litigation and damaging publicity. Take for example an average CRT monitor - As of July 2005, the new Hazardous Waste Regulations now classify CRTs as hazardous waste and impose very strict rules on just how they can be moved and disposed of. Data security

Very often old IT equipment can contain highly sensitive commercial and personal information that could be very damaging if it were to fall into the wrong hands. Whether it be company specific, client related (such as credit card details) or even associated with their own people (for example, National Insurance and payroll details) electronic data, unseen and often unrecognised, is dangerously easy to mismanage. All our Egton services include secure and insured data erasure providing you with complete security and peace of mind.

Remarketing

Just because the equipment is no longer required within your organisation does not mean that it does not have value. We are specialists at unlocking latent value in aged or redundant IT equipment and work with you to achieve the maximum return on historic IT investment. Often returned value can help offset service charges or even generate a net revenue to be used elsewhere in your business.

What do I receive for the service?

Reporting is of the highest standards in the sector with in-depth analysis on an asset-by-asset basis. Full audit traceability for every item processed in electronic format ensures that the service is completely transparent.

Each consignment we process is supported by:

• Charging summary: detailing what we have received and the charges associated with it
• Revenue summary: detailing what remarketing value has been achieved by item. (Premium Service Only)
• Asset list: full individual asset information including the ultimate disposal route for that item (Premium Service only)
• Certificate of Environmental Disposal: for items recycled
• Certificate of Data Eradication: for services where data has been destroyed.

I have been offered a free service, why should I choose Egton?

Egton provide a professional service which is not comparable to the proverbial "White Van Man" waste solution. When comparing service providers it is important to bear in mind that Egton offer an indemnified solution with reporting and certification. All Egton's products offer data eradication.
